As a recent convert from Gentoo to Kubuntu, one of the first things I missed in the new box was the presence of “emerge foldingathome”. Having this thing running makes me feel a lot less guilty about leaving the computer on almost all the time.
I didn’t care to find out how to install it myself (I really didn’t wanna spend more than a few keystrokes on this, as noble as it is), until I found this little script that does everything for you.
It can even deploy it in multiple boxes across a network, as long as you have root access on all of them.
If you don’t know what Folding@Home is, take a look here. I find it much more relevant than using your computer’s free cycles looking for intelligent aliens. Join us now and share the hardware! =D

I’m working towards getting it added to available repositories for Ubuntu and Fedora, but until then I hope it does help.
